Exhibit on surviving violence

The University of California at Merced's Art Gallery will present a multimedia exhibit today that tells of black women, men and children coping with the aftermath of violence in the east Bay Area.

Titled "Living With the Memory: A Colloquium," an opening for the exhibit is set for 1 to 4 p.m. in UC Merced's Social Sciences and Management Building, room 117, according to a news release.

Photographer Susan Latham spent months following the lives of women whose children were victims of homicide in east Oakland in 2001-03. The exhibit will show 45 of Latham's photographs of grief, love, despair and hope, the release says.
