38th Farm City Banquet features dinner, auctions

The Agribusiness Committee of Merced County will host the 38th annual Farm City Banquet starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a no-host social, dinner at 6:45 p.m., a silent and live auction and a dessert auction.

Tickets are $30 each or a table for $240. Catering by Golden Valley FFA and all proceeds go to fund scholarships for high school students who are in an ag-related field. For more information, call (209) 382-1031, (209) 617-5434 or (209) 233-1194.

Rescue Mission needs volunteers, food help

Merced County Rescue Mission will be feeding thousands of people this year for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

A traditional dinner will be fed to men, women and children, and food and volunteers are needed. The mission also will be distributing clothes and toys to the needy.

The mission's list of items needed are turkeys, hams, turkey pans, potatoes, canned cranberries, rolls, pies, paper plates, napkins, plastic forks, spoons and knives, stuffing, butter cubes, salad and dressing and salt and pepper packets.

Volunteers will be needed on Nov. 22 at the American Legion Hall, 939 W. Main St., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Dec. 24 at the hall, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call (209) 658-9558 or (209) 722-9269.

Atwater VFW offers help disposing of worn flags

ATWATER -- The Atwater Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9946 will properly dispose of any flags that are torn, soiled or just tattered out.

Just drop it off at the post, 1390 Broadway, and it will be taken care of.

The post also hosts its Hamburger Night every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. It provides wheelchairs and walkers at no charge to those veterans in need. Members can assist veterans in receiving any benefits that are connected to their service. For more information, call (209) 358-7224.

North Merced Rotary collecting wheelchairs

The North Merced Rotary will be collecting wheelchairs, walkers and crutches from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Mercy Medical Center.

Shepherd of the Valley Church to host veterans

Shepherd of the Valley Church will honor all Veterans following the 10 a.m. service Sunday at 1435 E. Yosemite Ave. Join the church for coffee and cake after the service. For more information, call (209) 631-4221.
