Anthony Gallegos: GOP in need of retrofitting

The Republican Party took a good whipping in Tuesday's election. Not only in the presidential, but also in local politics. The Democrats now have complete control in Sacramento, by gaining a two-thirds majority.

The Republicans continue with an unchanged message of hate and exclusion. They were in total shock by the severity of the thumping they received. The Democrats took every battleground state and turned them blue.

Those of us who read the posted comments in Wednesday's Merced Sun-Star witnessed these comments written by President Obama haters as having no substance. Only hatred and bitterness to being defeated.

The real wake-up will come in 2016. Every month, 50,000 youths with Spanish surnames will turn 18 years old. These are the first wave of citizens born in the USA. There are currently more women than men in the United States. Whom do you think these two groups will be voting for in 2016?
