OAKDALE -- Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, are dead after a shooting in the parking lot of the Oakdale Market on Sunday night, authorities said.
An Oakdale police officer was near the market at 311 E. I St. about 9 p.m. when the officer heard gunfire, according to Stanislaus County sheriff's Sgt. Anthony Bejaran.
The officer saw numerous people in the parking lot, including two victims on the ground.
Emergency crews took Abel Calderon, 20, of Oakdale, to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Ruben Mora Jr., 15, was pronounced dead at the scene, Bejaran said.
After talking to witnesses, officers determined that Ryan Neil Mazzariello, 25, of Oakdale was the suspect. They went to his home and after a brief discussion with Mazzariello, he was taken into custody. He is being held at the Stanislaus County Jail. No bail has been set.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department is assisting with the investigation at the request of the Oakdale Police Department.
