MERCED -- A Merced marijuana grow in the 2800 block of South Highway 59 was the target of a home invasion early Thursday morning, according to deputy Tom MacKenzie, Merced County Sheriffs Department spokesman.
Two men, described as Latino males, pulled up to the victims home in a green 90s Toyota Celica just after 7:00 a.m. The 36-year-old Caucasian female victim was outside when they asked if anyone else was home.
After she answered no the men pulled out a handgun, MacKenzie said.
The victim tried to run inside, but two men followed her into the house and ordered her to the ground.
According to MacKenzie, the men ransacked the residence, asking the victim where the marijuana was.
The victim told the men the marijuana was out back and they told her not to get up. The men went outside and found processed marijuana from about two dozen plants, MacKenzie said. The suspects took off with the marijuana and some jewelry from the house.
No one was injured during the incident.
MacKenzie said the victim waited about 45 minutes before calling the Sheriffs Office to report the crime.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Merced County Sheriffs Office at (209) 385-7472.
