Now that the angst and bitterness of the political campaign is on a temporary hiatus, it is a good time to take a breather and thank the everyday heroes. Bill Pratt, the physician's assistant in
Dr. Nicolas De La Pena's practice, and Dr. Rama Nandipati are two of my heroes. Both of these rare men have given me a much needed dose of hope.
Through the many years I have been Bill Pratt's patient, his unfaltering persistence to find a solution to my
health problem is evidenced by his eagerness to link me up with specialists.
I always sense that he is as disappointed as I am when the tests revealed no real diagnosis.
One of the specialists Bill Pratt linked me up with is
Dr. Nandipati. Dr. Nandipati said he likes solving the medical mysteries, but felt the best path to a solution lay outside his area of expertise. So he referred me to another specialist.
As I left Dr. Nandipati's office he said, "I want you to get better. Let me know what's happening.
In the meantime, I'll think about where else I could send you." His contagious smile and his firm handshake assured me he meant it.
We need silent, humble heroes in our lives. Take a moment to thank yours.
