Merced County Sheriff's Department deputies and detectives are investigating after a dead body was found Wednesday afternoon in an orchard near Highway 59 and Dickenson Ferry Road south of Merced. The body was discovered by the property owner. Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Ed Katen said no further details were available.
