Robert Hey: Not hateful, exclusionary

I'm responding to the letter "GOP in need of retrofitting" (Nov. 12), which stated that after the election, "The Republicans continue with an unchanged message of hate and exclusion."

Is it hateful and exclusive to want to reduce the deficit and 16 trillion dollars in debt or to create jobs and get 47 million Americans off of food stamps?

Is it hateful and exclusive to ensure that our military is not gutted of the resources it needs to protect our country?

Is it hateful and exclusive to want to protect unborn babies from being slaughtered in the womb or to preserve the traditional view of marriage that has stood the test of time for more than 5,000 years of human civilization?

These are just a few of the ideals that the Republican party endorses, and I believe that many of the Latinos and women that he alludes to also endorse them.

Most Republicans do not hate President Barack Obama; we simply believe he is taking America down a destructive path.
