MERCED — Drivers taking Santa Fe Avenue near Highway 140 will need to take alternate routes during the first week of December as Caltrans plans to close the road.

Caltrans will close Santa Fe Avenue from east of McKee Road to just west of Highway 140 from 8 a.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3 through Friday, Dec. 7, according to a press release.

Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes whenever possible, and should expect at least five minute delays.

Caltrans will post a signed detour during the closure period.
