The Merced/Atwater Women's 500 Club is hosting its last tournament of the season, the annual Holiday Doubles Tournament this Sunday at Bellevue Bowl starting at 1:30 p.m.
It consists of a local 500 members and a male or female guest. Your 2012 book average will be used and the entry fee is $22 per bowlers. This tournament will be regulation bowling and is handicapped.
In conjunction with the tournament, the club is having a canned food drive. This tournament is certified by USBC.
Silver Foxes
The November results of the Silver Foxes Bowling Club's singles event at Bellevue Bowl had few locals cashing. Sixty-six men and women took to the lanes and $1,782 was paid out down to 16 places. Modesto's Jay Faughn finished in third, collecting a check for $147. Modesto's Rick Lazaro was 11th for $100, Atwater's Roger Ross 12th for $90, and Mariposa's Steve Lewis 13th for $70.
The Silver Foxes welcomed a few new association members: Sanda Epps of Merced, and Sylvia and Mike Giordano of Atwater. The next scheduled event for the club will be the doubles tournament at Sierra Lanes Saturday at noon. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. with a $40 entry fee.
Livermore Valley
In a few weeks the 48th Annual Livermore Valley Tournament (LVT) will kick off this Saturday and run through Feb. 3, 2013 at Granada Bowl in Livermore. It offers bowlers your choice of team, doubles and singles, and all-events. The tourney offers many individual optional events. The roll every Saturday and Sunday with men and women teams all in one division. Entry fee is $28 per event, plus $6 for all-events.
PBA Tour
The PBA's World Series of Bowling Tour kicks off Sunday with the Bayer Advanced Aspirin Tournament at 10 a.m. on ESPN. It will feature a men's and women's final. ... The Japan Cup, which began Nov. 20 and concluded last Sunday, will air its finals on ESPN on Jan. 20 at noon.
