I read a couple of articles in your paper about two local companies losing their contracts to outside vendors. I hope the county realizes how much revenue we stand to lose, and how many jobs are at stake.
I think the community appreciates the providers of our ambulatory services as well as the company that supplies fuel for the county. These local companies have provided successful services to Merced County. I hope that the supervisors think long and hard before passing these contracts to unknown companies outside of Merced County.
It seems to me, that our director of economic development is dropping the ball; this agency should assist these companies with idiotic paperwork. The reasons that county gives for selecting outside entities is not sufficient.
The repercussions of a decision to go outside will mean the loss of tremendous revenues.
The loss of jobs must be considered. After all, the community leaders, city and county were elected because you advocated for local jobs.
Please don't let these contracts and jobs slip away from us. Buy and shop locally. I encourage every member of our community to contact their district supervisor to question the denial of services to our local businesses.
