When I was told recently about one of our fine Atwater school principals delivering food to the family of one of her students, it reminded me that our school principals are, indeed, true heroes.
This incident touched my heart, and caused me to remember that there are many children in need of food in all schools.
I would like everyone to be reminded of this too. For many students the two meals that they eat at school may be the only ones they get for the entire day.
Now with Christmas vacation almost here, they will not be getting these.
I would like to ask my fellow retired teachers and retired principals, as well as anyone who is interested and able, to join me in contacting the school where you worked, where your grandchildren attend, or a school close to you, and inquire about contributing food or money to buy food for their students in need. Thank you.
