Three people were arrested in Gustine on Wednesday in connection with a burglary in the 300 block of Wallis Avenue, police reported.

Officers were called to the empty home about 11 p.m. to investigate reports of a possible burglary in progress.

Police said they spotted an adult female standing in front of the home and a pickup truck in the driveway when they arrived. According to Sgt. Jim Hamera, officers also saw two adult males trying to leave the home.

Officers stopped all three for questioning. After investigating, the three were arrested without incident.

Gustine resident Fabian Zavala, 47, was booked on suspicion of burglary, trespassing and vandalism.

Miguel Gembe, 35, also of Gustine, was booked on suspicion of burglary, trespassing, vandalism and possession of a concealed weapon, a knife.

Cynthia Stanfill, 24, a Gustine area transient, was booked on suspicion of burglary, trespassing and vandalism. As she was booked, police said, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were found on Stanfill. She was charged with attempting to bring drugs into jail.

Zavala and Gembe are held at the Merced County Jail in lieu of $50,500 bail, and Stanfill in lieu of $55,500 bail.
