Shelter is in need
of food, volunteers
The D Street Homeless Shelter is in need of food. The cold weather brings in many more people to stay, and they serve an evening meal to a group that can reach up to 65 on any given night. Prepared meals or people to come and prepare meals are needed. There is freezer space available for meals made in advance. Call (209) 704-4384.
Mental Health Board
The Merced County Mental Health Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at 300 E. 15th St.
Merced city planners

West Coast Swing
Glenn and Leanne Rozman will teach a four-week class in West Coast Swing dancing at 7 p.m. starting Jan. 9 at the Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St. Cost is $5 per lesson or $16 for all four. Call (209) 385-6298 or register at 678 W. 18th St.
Mental illness support
NAMI Merced County National Alliance on Mental Illness holds bi-weekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. Call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.
Senior legal services
Central California Legal Services Inc. and Merced County provide free legal services to seniors. Clients must live in Merced County, be 60 years or older and U.S. citizens. Appointments are held in Dos Palos, Livingston, Los Banos, Atwater and Merced. Call (209) 385-7550.
