Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus -- and he comes this year in the form of Riggs Ambulance Service of Merced.
The classic Christmas tale is about a little girl whose belief in Santa Claus lies in the hands of her town's local newspaper, The Sun. Virginia's father reports to her that "If you see it in The Sun, it's so!" Thus, she believes!
Well, it appears that Riggs' reputation may lie in the hands of the Sun-Star, as there have been a stream of articles related to the recent injustice being done by this company that has served the community for more than 60 years. The Sun-Star should do a little more research (I'm particularly talking about the article of Dec. 8) before reporting inaccuracies on the front page. So, I say to you, residents of Merced: "If you see it in the sun, it may not always be so." Riggs stands on their dedication to the community and their solid reputation for providing excellent service to the community for years.
