An early morning fire at Mikuni Sushi in Fair Oaks activated the restaurant's sprinkler system, flooding the popular eatery.
The fire broke out in the Hazel Avenue restaurant's HVAC system around 2:30 a.m., but was contained by the sprinkler system, said Michelle Eidam, a spokeswoman for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Eidam said the sprinkler system likely saved the building.
Water from the sprinklers flooded much of the restaurant and fire crews responded to remove the water, Eidam said.
