Police searching for Walgreens burglar

MERCED -- Merced police are looking for a man in connection with a commercial burglary at the Walgreens on Olive Avenue and G streets this morning, according to Sgt. Alan Ward.

Officers responded to the alarm around 3:15 a.m. Monday morning, finding a broken window in the front of the store. Ward said there were no burglars inside.

The man was caught on the store’s surveillance video going inside the store, then exiting about 30 seconds later. Ward said the burglar committed the crime by himself.

According to police, the man was seen wearing a dark hooded jacket.

It’s unclear what merchandise was stolen, but it did not appear the burglar took any money.

There were no injuries reported from the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Merced police at (209)385-6905.
