LOS BANOS -- A box-out and a put-back gave the Los Banos boys basketball team a 55-53 win over Central Valley on Friday.
With the score tied 53-53 and about 15 seconds remaining, LB took the ball after an errant Central Valley pass. Guard Delvonte Moore drove for a layup, and when it bounced off the glass and skipped past the rim, teammate Joel Marshall was there, boxing out CV's 6-foot-6 forward Ryan Donnelly despite giving up 4 or 5 inches, to grab the ball and float it in.
CV (5-10, 0-2 WAC) had a distinct height advantage, but it was Hawks guard Jaron Dickson who took control of the game late, raining five 3-pointers to give the visitors a 53-46 lead. Dickson led all scorers with 21 points. But Moore and Marshall led the comeback for the Tigers (4-8, 1-1), scoring 16 and 14, respectively.
