Sacto 911: Man convicted of murder in 2004 Oak Park knifing

- afurillo@sacbee.com

A Sacramento Superior Court jury today convicted Ignacio Bulahan of first-degree murder in the May 19, 2004, knife-slashing murder of Thyotis Jackson in Oak Park.

Judge Maryanne G. Gilliard scheduled the sentencing for Feb. 8 on Bulahan, 36.

According to testimony at trial, Jackson, 22, was a cross-dressing prostitute whom Bulahan had propositioned outside a store on Broadway near First Avenue.

A dispute arose when Jackson informed Bulahan he was a man, and Bulahan slashed Jackson's throat during the ensuing fight.
