Sacto 911: Man accused of fleeing, fighting Yuba County deputies

- clocke@sacbee.com

An Olivehurst man was arrested Tuesday night after reportedly fleeing, then fighting with Yuba County sheriff's deputies.

About 10:30 p.m., deputies attempted to contact a motorcyclist who was seen in an orchard in the area of the Peach Tree Golf and Country Club in the east Linda area. The motorcyclist drove off but was spotted again by a deputy on Simpson Lane near Simpson-Dantoni Road. When the man saw the deputy, he again tried to flee by driving over a levee, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

As he attempted the maneuver, however, the driver and motorcycle fell. The driver then began to run from the area and fought with pursuing deputies, officials said.

Deputies eventually subdued the man, who was identified as Jason Ray Gorham, 25. He was arrested on suspicion of battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, violation of parole, driving on the levee and other minor vehicle code violations.
