Merced High placed on lockdown Thursday

MERCED -- Merced High School was placed on lockdown Thursday around 3 p.m. after police received a call of shots fired, according to Lt. Roger McIntyre.

McIntyre said the caller heard the shots in the area of M Street and Yosemite Avenue -- not at the school itself.

Still, the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution only, he said.

No victims were found in the area, McIntyre said.
