Bariatric support group meets each month

Merced Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group meets on the 15th of each month, unless the date lands on a Saturday or Sunday, then they meet the Friday before, at 7 p.m. at 315 Mercy Ave., third floor, Class A. For more, call (209) 261-6333.

Playhouse presents 'Dearly Departed'

The Playhouse Merced will present Dearly Departed, a comedy Jan. 11-20 at the Merced County Arts Council. The Playhouse will hold auditions for their next mainstage musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar," at 1 p.m. Jan. 12, all roles are open. Conference on abortion at Creekside Evangelical

Improvement classes for mature drivers

The Merced/Atwater Merced College Noncredit Office is offering Mature Driver Improvement classes for residents over the age of 55, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Atwater Community Center, 760 Bellevue Road and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Merced Tri-College Center. Household hazardous waste collection event

The Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority will offer a household hazardous waste event for residents by appointment only Jan. 18 and Jan. 29 at the Highway 59 landfill. To schedule an appointment, call (209) 722-4228, (209) 723-4481, ext. 24 or go to mercedrecycles.com/ hhw.html. Items that will be accepted are household products that contain ingredients that are corrosive, reactive, flammable or toxic.

AARP Tax-Aide program to start return help

The AARP TaxAide Program will begin preparing tax returns for all ages with middle to low income and extra assistance for those who are age 60 and older, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Feb. 5, at the Senior Center, 755 W. 15th St. All volunteers are trained and certified with IRS material.
