MERCED -- East Coast musicians Jennifer O'Connor and Chris Brokaw are scheduled to make a stop Friday night in Merced to play an unconventional and unplugged night of music, according to a news release from Downtown Life Magazine.
DLM Live is presenting the night of music by O'Connor and former Codeine member Chris Brokaw at the home of Sharlee and Jason Fragulia, aiming to give show-goers a unique and intimate night of entertainment.
"We've wanted to do a house show for a while now. It gives folks the chance to get up close with the artists and pay attention to the artistry of the performance and it allows them to really connect with the music," DLM Live co-organizer Tom Price said in the release.
Price recently joined forces with Partisan owner RC Essig to book and promote unique all-ages concerts in downtown Merced. "We are lucky to have our first house show feature such great talent. They are perfect for this type of setting," he added.
O'Connor has a reputation as a stellar songwriter and has five highly regarded solo albums to her name. She has toured or played with a host of big names in the industry, including Wilco, The Indigo Girls, Feist, Yo La Tengo and the Mountain Goats, according to the release.
Brokaw is an indie music pioneer who is widely known for his years playing music with the bands Codeine and Come.
The duo is currently in the middle of the West Coast swing of their tour, which features shows from Seattle to San Diego.
Doors for the show will open at 7 p.m. at the Fragulia household, 912 W. 20th St. in Merced.
Only 30 tickets will be sold and they must be purchased in advance online at http://dlmlivehouseshow.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $5 (not including a service fee).
In addition to the house show, DLM Live is also presenting the Two Gallants at the Partisan on Jan. 26, The Radar Bros. on Feb 1. at the Multicultural Arts Center and Nick Jaina in another house show on Feb. 15.
