Blast From the Past

MERCED -- Elvis Presley tribute artist Lloyd Aron Douglas wowed the crowd Saturday night at the Merced Theatre, in a presentation called 'Totally Elvis.'

The audience, including Merced Mayor Stan Thurston at far right center, also had the chance to be charmed by superstar Marilyn Monroe, played by Holly Beavon, and rocked by music icon Buddy Holly, played by Rob Ely.

According to a news release, when he's not playing Elvis, Douglas is a mounted police officer in San Francisco. He also trains horses and other police officers.

Douglas' wardrobe of costumes, from the gold lamé jacket to the white rhinestone jumpsuit, are tailor-made by Janet Tegels at Professional Costumes in Tennessee, following Elvis' original patterns and intricate details of rhinestones and elaborate embroidery, according to a news release.
