Richard Lewis: Second amendment protects us

We now have the president and congress in full panic mode to destroy the second amendment rights of its citizens.

In the '60s we had the war on poverty. Today, we have nearly 60 million people on food stamps, more than ever before, and no line in sight to end poverty. Do you remember the war on drugs? There is just as much of a drug problem today as ever. People are taking drugs at lower and lower ages.

This is how effective government is at fixing problems. The answer to violence in our society does not rest in the number of guns. It rests in the hearts of people. The government cannot change the hearts of people, so they do the only thing they can do. They tell us they're going to protect us by taking away our guns.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, "the Fast and Furious guy" who gave guns to Mexican drug cartels who used the guns to kill Mexicans and Americans alike.

The second amendment was designed to protect us from governments just like this.
