MERCED -- A 27-year-old Merced man was arrested on suspicion of a hit-and-run that left a woman injured on Saturday evening, police reported.
Officers were called to the intersection of M street and Cardella Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on reports of a hit-and-run accident.
The man suspected of causing the accident had fled northbound on M street before officer arrived, according to police.
Officers found a 2013 Scion TC in the middle of the intersection with major damage to the drivers side. The 22-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to her shoulder and neck.
The two passengers inside the car were not hurt, police said.
A witness followed the fleeing car and was able to write down the drivers license plate number. Officers followed a trail of oil, fluid and debris to locate the white 1993 Honda Civic in a residential neighborhood more than a mile away, police said.
According to officers, the car had major front end damage and was found on Everson Court in Merced.
The driver, identified as Moises Martinez of Merced, was under the influence of alcohol and tried evading officers by going inside a home.
