MERCED -- The California Department of Transportation announced Sunday the closure of Santa Fe Avenue from east of McKee Avenue to just west of Highway 140.
Caltrans spokeswoman Angela DaPrato said the full closure will take effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. today through Thursday.
Although a signed detour is available, DaPrato said, motorists should consider taking alternate routes and expect five-minute delays.
There will be two additional closures today because of the Martin Luther King Jr. parade in Merced.
Caltrans will close Highway 59 from Highway 99, before L Street, to Childs Avenue. Caltrans also will close the northbound and southbound offramps from Highway 59 to Highway 99, before L Street, to accommodate parade traffic.
Additionally, the northbound and southbound offramps from Highway 99 to Highway 59, J Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way will be closed to accommodate the parade.
The parade closures will run from 10 a.m. to noon today.
