Trial began today for three men accused of murder and robbery in the Oct. 18, 2010, early-morning shooting death of a cab driver in North Highlands.
Deputy District Attorney Kevin Greene told the three Sacramento Superior Court juries that have been empaneled for each defendant that when James Walker, 54, went to the Hillsdale Village Apartments shortly after 3 a.m. to pick up a fare, it was supposed to be his last shift of the evening.
"As it turned out, that was the last shift of his life," Greene said.
Prosecutors have charged Jermaine John Campbell, 21, Antoine Lee Tayklor, 22, and Jonathan Steven Hudson, 20, with Walker's murder. All three granted media interviews after their arrests and denied that they killed the cab driver.
The trial is being heard in front of Judge Cheryl Chun Meegan.
