A man who was scheduled to begin a murder trial last week on charges that he had bludgeoned his roommate with a bar bell and stabbed him has pleaded no contest instead.
Anthony Bettanini, 51, entered his plea to second-degree murder charges Friday in Sacramento Superior Court to the Aug. 23, 2010, killing of William Goldsbury in their apartment in the 3700 block of Norwood Avenue.
Bettanini's sentencing has been scheduled for Feb. 22 in Department 63.
