Two home invasions reported in Merced County

MERCED -- Merced County sheriff's deputies responded to a home invasion robbery Thursday evening in Delhi and another early Friday in the Beachwood area, according to deputy Ed Katen.

The first incident was reported about 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the 16000 block of Bradbury Road. The two victims claimed a man wearing no shirt entered the residence after breaking a window.

Upon entering the residence, the attacker struck the female victim. The male victim tried coming to her defense, but also was beaten by the attacker, Katen said.

The attacker left the residence without taking any items, and the victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The other incident was reported at 5:25 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 2000 block of Sunrise Avenue in the Beachwood area.

About five men went to the home and robbed the two residents of money and their pickup truck. At least two of the robbers may have been armed with handguns, Katen said.

The stolen truck was later found in the Atwater area.

Sheriff's deputies are asking anyone with information about either case to call detectives at (209) 385-7472. Tips are kept confidential and you can remain anonymous.
