Mental health meeting

The Merced County Mental Health Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at 1137 B St.

Sing hymns in February

ATWATER -- Atwater Baptist Church will hold its February Hymn Sing starting with a soup supper at 5 p.m. Feb. 10 at the church, 2124 First St. Call (209) 358-5427.

Parks and rec openings

LIVINGSTON -- The city is accepting applications to fill seven vacancies on the Livingston Parks and Recreation Commission. The deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 28. Applications are available at City Hall or Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month.

Fridge or freezer sought

United Way of Merced County needs a refrigerator or refrigerator- freezer in good condition. If you have one you can donate, call (209) 383-4242.

Ponies need donations

Wayward Ponies' will hold its fourth annual open house Feb. 18 and is in need of donations of new items or gift certificates for prizes and the loan of pop-up canopies in case of inclement weather. United for Life contest

The United for Life Oratory Contest will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Merced Civic Center in the Sam Pipes Room. It is open to all Merced County High School students and monetary prizes will be awarded. For an application, call (209) 383-0407.

Shop to help out PAL

ATWATER -- Save Mart offers S.H.A.R.E.S. cards. When a shopper swipes a card, 3 percent of the purchase will go to Atwater Police Activities League. Help us maintain important programs for our youth.
