Ted Brodalski: Council is greedy

Atwater's greedy council is still in charge. The majority of the council served as the city finances were depleted to the edge of bankruptcy. Employees were laid off and our police department and other employees took a cut in pay.

The majority of the council still refuses to give up their pay and become volunteers with their mission to serve the community.

The fear of special interests discussed by some of the council is their justification for retaining salary pay. Maybe they're really interested in power and ego.

As a volunteer planning commissioner and police volunteer for 24 years, I find their lack of concern to serve the citizens as unpaid volunteers unpardonable. Many citizens are upset that they will pay more for services, but the council remains silent. We failed at the ballot box because the choices we made did not do a good job.

We need to make better choices in the future. Our protection and services need to return to what they were when volunteer councils guided the city before greed, pay and allowances took over. Concerned citizens respond.

The council phone numbers and email addresses are in the monthly bulletin sent with the utility bills. Also voice your opinion at the City Council meetings.

Semper Fi.
