Kaptown shirts prove a big draw in Turlock, beyond

- pguerra@modbee.com

TURLOCK -- Kaptown shirts continue to be a big seller. Turlock’s Westside Ministries, a nonprofit organization serving families on the city’s west side, started selling the shirts to raise money for youth football scholarships.

The T-shirts and hooded sweatshirts honoring 49er quarterback and Pitman High grad Colin Kaepernick have attracted a lot of attention — an order came in Monday morning from North Dakota, and a television news crew showed up to do a story, said youth director Lydio Bananya.

Now the stock has been depleted. “We do have smalls and youth sizes on the sweatshirts and shirts,” Bananya said. “We ran out of medium and up.”

Westside has ordered more shirts, which Bananya hopes to be selling Tuesday or Wednesday. Call (209) 667-8593.
