Sun-Star staff

MERCED -- Building Healthy Communities in Merced is looking to recruit volunteers for its hub committee, an advisory group charged with helping define the group's mission and priorities.

The group is looking for participation from youth, government officials and local agency representatives.

The deadline for adults and youth residents to apply is Feb. 15. Government and agency officials have until Feb. 28.

For more information, contact hub manager Tatiana Vizcaino-Stewart at (209) 580-6067 or tatiana@unitedwaymerced.org.

Building Healthy Communities is a nonprofit funded by the United Way. The Merced chapter is focused on the areas of southwest Merced and eastern Merced County.

The group's goal is to "create places where children are healthy, safe and ready to learn," according to its website.
