ATHERTON -- Aki Chambers scored a game-high 32 points and added 11 rebounds as the UC Merced men's basketball team picked up a big victory in its bid for a spot in the California Pacific Conference Tournament Saturday night with a 74-71 win over Menlo College.
The Golden Bobcats (7-20, 5-3 Cal Pac) trailed by 10 at halftime, but came storming back.
George Idehen had 16 big points off the bench and Michael Yonemoto continued his solid play with 12 points for UC Merced.
UCM has a solid hold on third place in the Cal Pac standings heading into the final week of the regular season. The top four teams qualify for the Cal Pac Tournament with an automatic bid into the NAIA Division 2 Tournament up for grabs.
West Hills 66, Merced College 63
COALINGA -- The Merced College men's basketball dropped another tough one on the road to the Falcons.
The Blue Devils (1-18, 1-7 Central Valley Conference) haven't enjoyed much success in the win column, but have continued to play teams tough down the stretch.

Mission used a couple home runs and a two-run triple to strike for all of its runs in the fourth inning.
Jacob Schultz and Cody Simar each drove in runs for MC (3-2), but the Blue Devil rally came up short at Blue Devil Field.

ATHERTON -- Samantha Oshiro poured in a career-high 14 points and Kayla Polman added 10 points and seven rebounds, but the Golden Bobcats (3-18, 2-6 Cal Pac) couldn't keep pace with No. 20 Menlo.
