Hollister woman dies in Highway 152 crash

- cpride@losbanosenterprise.com

LOS BANOS - A Hollister woman died after being ejected from her car during an accident involving four vehicles on a local highway early Monday.

California Highway Patrol Officer Matt Pinheiro said Pricilla Zamora, 25, of Hollister, died after her 1995 Honda Civic veered into oncoming traffic on Highway 152 near the Romero Visitors Center at 3:54 a.m.

He said Zamora was eastbound when her car, for an unknown reason, went into the westbound lane. The right side of Zamora’s Honda Civic was struck by a 1997 Nissan Sentra driven by Manuel Jiminez, 41, of Saratoga. Gustine resident Jason Vega, 38, was behind Jiminez in a Ford F-150. Vega’s vehicle also struck the Honda, Pinheiro said.

Another westbound Ford F-150, driven by David McCarter, 50, of Los Banos, was hit by debris from the Honda Civic.

Pinheiro said Jiminez suffered major injuries in the accident and was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. He said Vega was driven by ambulance to Memorial Hospital, Los Banos to be treated for minor injuries.

Pinheiro said it has not yet been determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. He said although he did not have the exact amount of time the accident caused Highway 152 to be shut down, it was a while before the morning commute was able to flow freely.
