In 1991, I was asked to serve on the MCAG citizen advisory committee. I knew little about transportation and asked for a list of initials and what they meant. I was the fifth member of a 15-person committee that had been formed, the other 10 never showed up for a meeting.
I was asked to be the chair and accepted. Along with Jesse Brown and Marjorie Kern, we wrote new bylaws and it became a full committee of 15 members. Seven years later, I retired and Berent Isenberg took over as chair. Brown and Kern did the impossible and made things happen. It is still happening. The freeway south of town, Farmers Insurance freeway crossing closed, UC offramp complete and many more items. This committee needs the leadership of Mrs. Kern. Merced does not need a greenhorn to lead the group. She has over 20 years in the backup position, is dedicated to Merced and has many accolades to her credit. You have heard of YARTS?
I for one support her for the directorship of MCAG and urge people to call your supervisor.
