It looks like Ed Huddleston is practicing for the eighth annual Black Oak Lanes senior no-tap tournament next month.
Huddleston won first place in the monthly senior no-tap at Black Oak Friday with a handicap score of 888.
He took first, worth $50, and then added another $18 in side pots for a total of $68.
As for the upcoming tournament, there is a squad at 10 a.m. March 1, and a 1:30 p.m. squad. The 10 a.m. squad has openings and the 1:30 p.m. is getting close to being full.
Remember, there are separate prize lists for men and women. High game pots are paid out after every game for men and women. When you check in you will receive a $10 free play coupon to be used upstairs in the casino.
Entry fee is only $15, and that includes your high game pots. The lanes furnish the seniors with coffee, cookies and popcorn during the tournament. You can call Sandy Taylor, tournament director to reserve a spot at (209) 928-9437.
McHenry Sweetheart doubles
Eighty-four bowling partners took to the lanes at McHenry Bowl in their annual Sweetheart Doubles no-tap tournament.
Our local bowlers were well represented. Taking fourth place overall was the team of Dee Bayer and Larry Valenti Sr. with a 1,616, good for $26 each.
Bellevue women led the way as Mary Hamilton, Dee Bayer, Janie Schropp, Charli McMillian and Phillis Wallbaum all won money in the high game pot. Mickey Wallbaum was the only man to place in the men's high game.
Classic highlights
Roger Ross with a super 297 and a 759 set. ... Tommy Cardoza a 280 and 658. ... Gene Wallace a 668. ... Deanna Cimmino 674. ... John Nunes a 687. ... Nevora Nush with a 214 using her new ball. ... Marty Daniel leaving 14 ten pins. He should listen to Merchants bowler Jim Fortin who said, "Welcome to Bellevue Bowl."

Southpaw 300
A friend of mine who bowls in Modesto, sometimes against me, finally rolled his first perfect game of his 60 years of playing during McHenry Bowl's senior no-tap. The guy is 76 years old and his name is Harold Walker.
A lefty, he rolled games of 193, 256, and then his 300 for his career high game and series, a 749. His prior high game was a 279. He is averaging a 190 clip this year. So, this means that I might have a shot at one now.
