I read a letter by Jack Mobley against the proposed gun control legislation in California ("Against regulations," Feb. 11). A statement he made in the third paragraph bothers me, and such uninformed notions seem far too common now days.
Mobley says, "This legislation, if passed, would further erode unalienable rights guaranteed to Americans by God through the Constitution."
I support gun ownership with strict controls; however, I did not know that God is a gun owner. I re-read the Constitution today, and the Bill of Rights, and saw nothing about God at all or about God guaranteeing the right of Americans to own guns.
