Four people, including two children, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries Wednesday after a two-car crash at Alexander Avenue and G Street, Merced police reported.
The crash was reported at 4:47 p.m. It involved a blue Chrysler Sebring and a white Cadillac CTS, according to Officer Craig McKeeman.
The driver of the Cadillac, 30-year-old Rachelle Santos, had stopped for a red light eastbound on Alexander and was about to turn left on G Street.
Marquita Barrett, 21, was driving the Chrysler northbound on G Street in the left turn lane, with three occupants in her car. Barrett tried to make a U-turn. She lost control of the car after trying to make the turn too quickly and broadsided the Cadillac, McKeeman said.
Barrett, along with her passengers Matthew Davis, 25, Ja-Lea Black, 4, and Mayah Davis, 6 months, were taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Cadillac wasn't hurt, McKeeman said.
DUI is not a factor in the crash, police said.
Police said Barrett will receive a ticket for driving on a suspended licence. Officers also noted that the occupants of the Chrysler weren't wearing seat belts.
