A Craigslist meet-up in an Elk Grove park to purchase an iPhone ended with the prospective buyer being pistol-whipped.
Elk Grove police said that the 17-year-old responded to a Craigslist ad to purchase an iPhone 5. He agreed to meet the seller about 5 p.m. Wednesday at Miwok Park, which is near Big Horn Boulevard and Village Tree Drive.
After inspecting the phone, the teen declined to purchase it from the seller, a man in his 20s. About that time, another man, armed with a handgun, emerged from a nearby restroom. When the teen tried to run, he was hit in the back of the head with the handgun by the second man.
The teen suffered a cut. The suspects drove away in a black 2003 or 2004 Ford Focus with chrome rims.
The first man was described as a black man with facial scars, short hair and a cast on his right arm. The man with the gun was described as a black man in his 20s, bald, with facial scars and about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build.
