Giants' trophies coming to Atwater tonight

ATWATER -- The San Francisco Giants' 2010 and 2012 World Championship trophies will be in Atwater from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight in the Atwater Community Center.

There will also be an auction, which will start shortly after 8 p.m.

Giants' Pitcher Sergio Romo, whose aunt lives in Atwater, donated several personal items for the auction, including a champagne bottle that was popped during the World Series celebration and shirts he's worn.

Atwater was eligible for a stop on the trophy tour because the city has a Junior Giants program, which is a free, noncompetitive baseball program for 5-to-18-year-old boys and girls. It's funded through the Giants Community Fund.
