Atwater man stabbed during altercation

An Atwater man sustained minor injuries after being stabbed in the leg Thursday night, police Lt. Sam Joseph reported today.

The victim, identified as Daniel Coronado, said the altercation happened around 10:55 p.m. after he arrived to his home on the 200 block of Drakeley Avenue.

Coronado told officers he was confronted by a white male is his early 20s, described as 5'7 inches weighing 175 pounds, Joseph said. He also reported the man had a bald head and was wearing a white T-shirt.

The man allegedly began a verbal argument that escalated into a physical fight, Coronado told police.

The fight ended with the man stabbing Coronado in the lower leg. His injuries were described as non life-threatening and he was released after receiving treatment at a local hospital.

According to Joseph, Coronado said he didn’t know his assailant or why he was attacked.
