ATWATER -- An Atwater man sustained minor injuries when he was stabbed in the leg Thursday night, according to Atwater police Lt. Sam Joseph.

The victim said the altercation happened about 10:55 p.m. after he arrived at his home in the 200 block of Drakeley Avenue.

The victim told officers he was confronted by a white male in his early 20s, described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 175 pounds, Joseph said. He also reported that the man had a bald head and was wearing a white T-shirt.

The victim told police that the man had started an argument that escalated into a physical fight.

The fight ended with the man stabbing the victim in the lower leg, the victim said. His injuries were not life-threatening and he was released after treatment at a hospital.

According to Joseph, the victim said he didn't know his assailant or why he was attacked.
