Get a grip, Atwater. Vote No on H. The issue is that this city on its own wanted a tax back in November to help it through the bankruptcy, and the City Council decided to lie to get this tax passed by the people by calling it a "safety tax."
Fact 1: All city employees took cuts in pay at least on two different occasions.
Fact 2: Atwater Police Department took a pay cut.
What pay cut did Cal Fire, which handles Atwater's firefighting needs, take? Zero.
So here we go; a tax increase for safety, and Cal Fire and its union and the California Department of Forestry standing at the door with their handout on the upcoming contract for more money and a retention of their contract for us to foot. Cal Fire is not worth it.
Vote NO on Measure H. It would be better to restore pay for all employees who have already given up plenty, than to Cal Fire that has given up nothing.
