Robbery reported at T Street apartment in Merced

No one was hurt Monday night during a robbery reported at an apartment building in the 100 block of T Street, Merced police said.

The incident was reported around 8:50 p.m. after a lone gunman threatened a 41-year-old man who was renovating a unit at the building. The gunman, who had his face covered and wore a burgundy sweatshirt and pants, walked inside and brandished a sawed off shotgun, demanding money from the victim, according to Lt. Bimley West.

The victim handed over a small amount of cash, and the robber fled eastbound on foot, West said.

Police said the victim wasn't hurt during the robbery.

Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information about the case to call (209) 385-4702 or the department's automated tipline at (209) 385-4725. Residents can text a tip to TIP411 (847411) using "comvip" as the first word in the text message. Tips are kept confidential, and you can remain anonymous.
