'Guys and Dolls Jr.' at Playhouse Merced

Playhouse Merced will present "Guys and Dolls Jr.," a children's adaptation of the classic musical at 7:30 p.m. March 15 and 16, and at 2 p.m. March 17 at 452 W. Sonora Celtic Faire begins this weekend

SONORA -- The 27th Annual Sonora Celtic Faire will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. There will be music, entertainment, food and much more. For tickets or more information, go to

Merced Christian School marks St. Patrick's Day

Merced Christian School's St. Patrick's Day celebration will start at 10:45 a.m. on March 15 at the school with a special St. Patrick's Day service, followed by a release balloons with a message of God's love attached. A barbecue lunch will follow.

Weight loss support group meets next week

Merced Bariatric Weight Loss Support Group meets at 7 p.m. at 315 Mercy Ave., third floor, Classroom A on the 15th of each month, unless it is a Saturday or Sunday; then the group meets the Friday before. Call (209) 261-6333 for more.

VFW corned beef and cabbage dinner

ATWATER -- The Atwater VFW Post 9946 members will cook a special St. Patrick's meal for its winter fund-raiser from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 17, at 1390 Broadway. Tickets are $8. The meal includes corned beef, cabbage, roll and dessert. Call (209) 358-7224.

Club Mercedes menudo every Sunday morning

Club Mercedes serves menudo every Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the menudo runs out. Cost is $8 for a large bowl and includes tortillas, coffee and Mexican pastry. Many beverages are available for an extra charge. Take-out is available. Call (209) 383-9906 for more information.
