The New York Giants have reportedly assigned a first- round restricted free agent tender to wide receiver Victor Cruz on Monday.
According to the New York Daily News, the Giants gave Cruz a tender that is worth a $2.879 million contract this year. The tender comes with the risk as Cruz can field offers from other teams that will offer the 2012 Pro Bowl selection a longer and more lucrative deal.
New York would have the right to match any offer, and it would also be due a first-round pick from any team that signs him, should the Giants decide not to match the offer.
