No injuries in Merced house fire

No injuries were reported Monday in a house fire near K and 10th streets in south Merced, fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the scene about 5 p.m. and were able to knock down the blaze within 15 minutes, according to Battalion Chief Tom McCall.

Upon their arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from the vents of the single-family residence, McCall said.

Sixteen firefighters, four engines and one truck responded to the scene. A battalion chief, three firefighters and one engine from the Merced County Fire Department-California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
