Two people received major injuries in a crash involving three vehicles Monday afternoon in the Beachwood area, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash was reported at 4:40 p.m. on Santa Fe Drive, west of Franklin Road, according to Officer Jason Schoonhoven, CHP spokesperson.
Richard Faulkner, 55, of Winton was driving a 1994 Infiniti eastbound on Santa Fe Drive in the No. 1 lane. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Terry, 45, on Merced, was driving a 1999 Toyota on Santa Fe Drive in the same direction as the Infiniti, in the No. 2. lane.
The third vehicle, a 1989 Chevy driven by Chalo Rodriguez, 54, of Winton, was stopped on northbound Franklin Road at Santa Fe Drive.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Infiniti allowed his car to veer to the right. The right front side of the Infiniti struck the left rear of Toyota.
The Toyota spun out of control and struck the left side of Rodriguez's Chevy. The driver of the Infiniti also lost control of his vehicle, crashing into the left side of the Chevy.
Terry and her passenger, 15-year-old Chase Terry, were both flown to a Modesto hospital with major injuries. Rodriguez was taken to Mercy Medical Center Merced with moderate injuries. Faulkner wasn't hurt.
DUI doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
